Answers to the questions we get asked most. If yours isn’t here, get in touch and we’ll answer it directly.
What is domiciliary care?
Domiciliary care (also called home care) means support delivered in your own home rather than a residential setting. That can range from a short daily visit to help with personal care and medication prompts, through to full live-in support. The point of it is independence: you stay in familiar surroundings, with care built around your routine rather than the other way round.
What areas do you cover?
We’re based in Portsmouth and cover Portsmouth, Southsea, Cosham, and Havant. If you’re just outside these areas, get in touch anyway, we can usually still help.
How do I get started?
Call or email us and we’ll arrange a free, no-obligation consultation. We’ll talk through what’s needed, who’s involved, and how funding works in your situation, then put together a care plan around that. There’s no pressure to sign up on the spot.
Can I choose my carer?
We match carers to clients based on needs, personality, and communication style, not just who’s free that day. If a match isn’t working for you, tell Tebby and we’ll sort out a change. Care isn’t one-size-fits-all and we don’t treat it that way.
How is care funded, and can I use Direct Payments?
Yes. If you receive Direct Payments from your local authority, you can use them to arrange care with Daisy Homecare directly, and switching provider is straightforward if you’re already receiving them from somewhere else. We also work with self-funders and NHS Continuing Healthcare. See our Cost of Care page for the full breakdown of funding routes.
Are your carers insured and background-checked?
Yes. Every carer we employ is directly employed by us, not subcontracted, and is Enhanced DBS-checked before they visit a client. We also provide structured induction and ongoing training rather than sending someone out after a brief onboarding.
How do I know if live-in care is right for us?
Live-in care tends to make sense when someone needs round-the-clock support or reassurance, but wants to stay in their own home rather than move into residential care. If you’re not sure whether hourly visits or live-in care fits better, that’s exactly the kind of thing to talk through in a consultation, we’re not going to sell you more than you need.
Are you CQC registered?
We’re currently completing our CQC registration application. We’d rather you know exactly where that stands than find out after you’ve already signed up, so ask us directly, any time, and we’ll tell you honestly.
