Domiciliary Care in Hampshire

First-class care in the comfort of your own home

What is Domiciliary Care?

Many people are confused about what domiciliary care entails, and the differences between it and, for instance, live-in care or assisted living. We aim to clear this up below.

The differences in types of care

What makes domiciliary care distinct is that it enables a service user to remain in the comfort and familiarity of their own home, whilst receiving the standard of care that comes with having trained professionals involved.

Whilst live-in care involves someone who is essentially a stranger (albeit an experienced and paid one) move in to offer around-the-clock availability, domiciliary care involves one or more care professionals visiting the home to assist in a wide range of activities.

From hygiene to housework or just some general mobility assistance or support in the administration of medicines, domiciliary care is flexible in that support can be agreed at anything from a quick visit to help with planned tasks to a full 24-hour package involving shifts from several workers but without actually having a care professional move in.

Is it a step towards a care home?

Not always. In many cases, domiciliary care is exactly right for a person's needs. Because a domiciliary care package is flexible by its very nature, it is simple to amend and be proactive when it comes to a service user's changing needs.

For some, assisted living or live-in care may be a natural progression from domiciliary care but there is no reason that needs to be the case if it's not in the wish of the individual in question.

The flexibility in all of our care offerings is absolutely key; we'll adjust as and when necessary to best facilitate the wants, needs, and situations of each particular person. It is of the utmost importance that the person we're caring for feels not only well looked after but also fulfilled and empowered by our presence, whether that's for a couple of hours or 24/7.
